HOPE

She had a very strong will to survive, and we named her Hope.

My mom had a litter of 8 puppies, and the nice people from the rescue came out every week to feed us. We were born at the end of August under an abandonded vehicle on a First Nations reserve. The people from the rescue asked if they could take us and find us homes but the people there wanted to keep us, so we were left with our mom. Eventually all of my brothers and sisters died, and I was the only one left. On a cold September day the people from the rescue were here and a boy told them he found me in the bush and that I was not doing well. When the rescue people found me I was barely breathing, very cold and extremely dehydrated. They called the Castledowns Veterinary Clinic and I was rushed in. The doctor there thought that I had distemper and that I would not make it. I was placed on IV and they waited 24 hours, still no improvement, so they kept me on IV and waited. Finally after 48 hours on IV I could pick my head up, and after another night on IV I could sit up in my kennel. I was at the clinic for several days and when I could finally eat on my own I was taken to a foster home where I got stronger with lots of food, love and attention, and friends to play with.

After Thanksgiving Hope found her furever home, but sadly only had a very short stay there. One day she was out chasing horses and one of them kicked her and she passed away.

HOPE will always be remembered...
